May 31st, 2020.

Well, it certainly has been an interesting couple of months!

With the NT being one of the first jurisdictions to impliment tough border and quarantine controls, that were soon followed by other State and Federal governments, we have been fortunate to get through this period with minimal loss of lives and are now more capable and ready to deal with any further outbreaks.

Albeit, there is still many financial and mental challenges ahead!

Whilst it is promising that the NT’s borders may be open by mid July, there is still reasonable uncertainty between State and Federal bodies as to when free Australia wide travel may occur.  Added to this uncertainty, is the unfortunate demise of Virgin Airlines which will have a significant impact on some of you who have booked flights with them.  Hopefully new owners are found and you do not lose your flights value or ability to re-schedule.

As such, unless there is significant developments within the next month, in order to provide reasonable time-frames for  change of plans and increased certainty,
we have decided to extend our suspension of tours out to August 14th.

For those with existing bookings during that period, if we have not done so already, we will contact you soon to discuss alternative arrangements.

In addition to the extended suspension of tours, we have also made some further changes for tour departure schedules for the August to November period as set out below.

Existing Bookings

For those that have been affected by the suspension, we appreciate your understanding and patience.

As we progress, those who have decided to defer travel rather than request a refund, we need to firstly ascertain whether you are considering travelling later this year or delaying until 2021.

As many of you are family groups that intended to travel during school holiday periods, in order to ensure we can meet your future needs we need to start planning future departure dates.  In particular, the three week span covering Sept 19th to October 11th 2020, the first week is now already unavailable.

Similarly, we have already started to get some enquiries for 2021 so we want to make sure we have you locked in for the dates you require before we accept any new bookings.

Please refer to conditions for refunds and defferal as advised below on March 22nd and new information below regarding future 2020 scheduled tours.

New 2020 Bookings

Apart from already confirmed departures, All dates for ‘Public’ scheduled tours have been closed for the remainder of 2020 and up to April 2021.

As there will be limited (and probably expensive!) flights and reduced free independent travellers throughout this period, it is simply not worth scheduling tours and having to cancel if minimum numbers are not achieved.

We will only initially be accepting booking requests for groups of 4 or more people.  Tours of two days or more will be accepted for departures on any date subject to availability surrounding any existing confirmed departures.

If the group prefers not to pay an additional fee to reserve the departure as a Private Charter the tour will be listed as a confirmed ‘Public’ departure and made available for other participants to book.

We feel this will be our most efficient way to ensure that we do not waste time on cancelling and re-arranging bookings.

March 22nd, 2020.

We certainly are facing challenging times ahead, probably the worst scenario I have seen in 25 years of tourism.

We are continually monitoring the evolving situation and trying to come to grips with the full effects the COVID-19 pandemic will pose for us going forward.

We have already had significant cancellations off many of our scheduled public tours and charters from International visitors and have as such suspended all tours until June 29th, 2020.

At this point we are trying to remain a little optimistic that a predicted peak will occur during April/May and we may still be able to return to some level of ‘normalcy’ later in the year!  Rest assured, the wellbeing of our valued clients will always be our highest priority.

As a small owner operated business that strives to provide unique, fun & informative tours at a reasonable price, we quite often run on minimal margins.  With the seasonality of the Top End tourism calendar, much of our peak season profits are absorbed by the leaner off-peak period.  March & April are always a challenging time of year with permit renewals, insurance renewals etc on a reduced capitol base and now we are faced with the prospect of there being no peak season to replenish this.

Whilst there is significant uncertaintity and an unerving level of panic within the broader community, we urge you to remain calm, patient and understanding to allow us suitable time to impliment a sustainable strategy to move forward from here.

Future Bookings

  1. Minimum deposit for all scheduled Public tours has been reduced from 20% to $100.
  2. This deposit is non-refundable:
    1. Any cancellations will be actioned as per Existing Bookings condition 1. sub conditions 1-4.
  3. Private Charter deposits reduced to 10%

Tour Departures Prior to June 29th.

All departures during April, May and June have been cancelled and are currently being dealt with on an individual basis as per previously existing terms and amended terms below.

Tour Departures Post June 29th.

Remaining optimistic, we are leaving these tours open with an expectation they will operate.  Situation will monitored and revised with changes advised by end of May.

Existing Bookings

If a departure is Cancelled by either party;

  1.  We will retain a deposit payments on the following terms –
    1. Client can re-book on any future departure with the retained payment credited towards future travel.
    2. Original quoted tour price will remain valid until October 29th 2022.
    3. Credit can be issued as a transferable voucher (ie. gifted to another party).
    4. Credit will remain valid until October 29th, 2022.
  2. If requested, Fully Paid bookings will be treated as folllows –
    1. Creditied as per condition 1.
    2. Balance refunds will not be immediate, but made at a sustainable rate during next 12 months.

If a departure is Confirmed;

  1. Balance payments will be required immediately.
  2. Any credit will be forfeited if booking has not already been rescheduled or converted to voucher.

I acknowledge that the costs of organising your holiday and now maybe needing to re-organise is undoubtedly stressful, It goes without saying that this is a tricky time for us all.

I trust and hope you and your families remain safe and healthy during this period and we can finally meet at some stage in the near future.

If you have any further queries, please make initial contact via email and I will respond as soon as possible.

Kind regards
